HOLY PLACES - Song Blog

Holy Places Song Blog by Harley Rowell

“You bring us to holy places, holy places

Heaven is open wide

Now we stand in glory blameless, glory blameless

Jesus, we lift You high

We lift You higher, we lift You higher

We lift You higher, oh we do, Lord”

2018 was the hardest year of my life. I walked through so many things for so long that I started to doubt the calling on my life. Through it all, God has been so faithful and He brought me out of the fog that I was in. He has been teaching me about what it means to truly draw close to Him. James 4:8 says that when we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. He is pursuing us with a holy love and He meets us in the middle every time. The moment that I chose to live my life from love and not for love, I began to see who The Father really is. Instead of striving for inheritance and for approval, I learned how to live from my inheritance and from approval- to sum all of that up, I fully stepped into sonship. I had the head knowledge of what sonship was for a long time, but it took a lot of inner healing before my heart could grasp my truest identity. He showed me that He was taking me from glory to glory, from old to new. Mindsets began to change and hope was being restored in my heart. I began to see God through the lenses of awe and wonder. As I started to posture my heart in wonder, God began speaking that it was time to tear down the boxes I’ve been putting him in and get ready to expand my tent pegs. This lyric in “Holy Places” from the Madison Street Worship album, Songs of the House, puts it so simply:

“We've never seen anything like it

Nothing compares to when You move

Your glory beyond our borders

Nothing can stop what You started”

I believe that everyone who sings “Holy Places” is going to see the power in declaration. It is time for us, as believers, to step into our identity and our authority in Christ. We are nothing without Him, but we have everything in Him. There is power of life and death in the tongue. Everyone, no matter their age, race, or denomination can declare and claim the lyrics below. I dare you to claim it over yourself and to declare it over your life. He will light a fire in your heart.

“We are the generation

Rising to the calling of Your love

We are the generation

Marching to the rhythm of Your heart

Your Kingdom is here among us

We’re learning to walk in the fullness

Your power is working through us

We're learning to live like Jesus”

Let this be a season that you allow the Holy Spirit to shape you. Give him permission to have his way in your life, by His will. God will give you everything you need in His perfect timing. The Kingdom looks like The King. As we explore who He is, we discover who we are. When we’re truly learning to live like Jesus, we are letting his presence shape us. We begin to look like Him, talk like Him, and love like Him.

“Now we surrender

Surrender to all You wanna do

We're moving forward

Forward in full pursuit of You, Jesus”
